I was born in St. Louis Mo. but raised in Washington State near Seattle. Growing up on the shores of Puget Sound all of nature was my teacher as it still is today.
The son of a sign painter and artist my professional schooling began at young age, while working with my father in his sign shop I had all the material I needed to explore my interest. From my father I learned allot of the tricks of design and spacing as well as some techniques such as serigraphy and gold leafing that I still use today. From my mother I got my imagination, love and support.
After graduating from high school I decided to continue my education through travel . My travels have taken me as far north as Anchorage Alaska where the aurora borealis and the midnight sun kept me for three months to as far south as Morelia, Michoacán in Mexico where I lived for a year studying mural painting, sculpture and Spanish and getting to know the people and cultures by working and living among the locals. I love Mexico and have been back to visit for work and pleasure a half a dozen times since. After a year in Mexico I decided to return to Washington and complete my studies. In 1982 I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Central Washington University in Ellensburg WA. Since graduating I have continued my studies in art, language, and other cultures. Currently I live on the island of Maui with my husband and two dogs, my work is on display at the Lahaina Banyan Tree Gallery, I also show my work under the Banyan tree on the weekends, stop by and check it out when your in town
